JOB DESCRIPTIONS
Counselors are responsible for:
- Reports directly to the Camp Director
- For ensuring that the health, nutritional, physical and emotional needs of the children under their care are met
- For endeavoring to make each camper’s camp experience a fun, memorable, positive and safe one
- For having thoroughly read and agreed with Camp Cadicasu Counselor Manual and this job description
- For planning, organizing, supervising and participating in all activities involving children in their care
- For establishing a positive, reassuring relationship with the parents of the children in their care
- For developing and maintaining a positive attitude towards other staff
- For respecting the privacy and property of other staff and campers
- For contributing towards maintenance of the camp by cleaning up and putting away materials and tidying up their personal areas
- For taking care of and returning to their proper place, all tools and equipment they have used
- For seeing that the children’s dorm rooms are cleaned daily and kept in a tidy productive manner throughout each week of camp
- For assuring that the personal possessions of each camper are secure and cared for
- For keeping an open mind to new ideas and people, with the intent of safeguarding a goodwill within the camp community and program
- For trying to attain, both personal and camp, philosophy and goals
- For trying to achieve the directives and goals of the Camp Cadicasu Board of Directors and the Camp Cadicasu Association of Calgary
- For taking care of their personal health by eating well, getting adequate rest and exercising properly
- For dressing in a professional and appropriate manner at all times
- For supporting the program Director and other staff members in all matters at all times
- For being an enthusiastic participant in all camp activities in which they are required to be involved
- For the safeguarding the self worth and dignity of all members of the camp community
- For the safeguarding of the Camp Board of Directors and the Camp Cadicasu Association of Calgary against possible litigation resulting from negligent behavior on his/her part
Assistant Counselor's are responsible for:
- Reports directly to the Camp Director
- For acting as a resource person to the counselors, Program Director, Counselors-in-training, Executive Director in implementing programming, sharing ideas and talents, special programs and doing research to assist in the implementation of all camp activities
- For reading in it entirety, the Camp Cadicasu Counselor Manual
- For “buying into” the camp philosophy and program as stated in the manual
- For providing relief to a counselor who is either ill, off duty, or in need of a rest, by taking over their role as caregivers as requested by either the Program Director or Executive Director
- When required, to be an additional support staff member on campouts, day outing or river or creek programming
- For assisting other staff members in maintaining the camp in a clean, safe and professional condition
- For the safeguarding the Camp Cadicasu Association of Calgary, Board of Directors, and fellow staff members against possible litigation resulting from negligent behavior on his/her part
